BACKGROUND
STES GROUP built its first solar car prototype during SSVC(Sinhgad Solar Vehicle Championship) 2017 in PANDHARPUR,INDIA.The team members underwent a basic automobile engineering training by different professors for 2 days.
STES GROUP team had a short time to prepare for the competition yet won the BEST COORDINATION award and that was achieved through teamwork whereby each and every member did their best to achieve the target of building a working solar vehicle. In less than a week, STES GROUP had manufactured its solar vehicle, but then this meant working many hours so that the goal would be achieved.
The second prototype of the solar car was built after coming back from INDIA. It was in April 2017. A much more improved version of the solar car was built in order to showcase it and to demonstrate that Rwandans have capacity to produce and manufacture their products when they have support.
During the Innovating Mobility Ideathon(29th Aug-3rd Nov 2018) which was organized by Toyota Mobility Foundation and Impact Hub Kigali, STES GROUP developed a second prototype of the solar car. The idea was to use these cars for the transportation of dairy products specifically in Rwanda’s Eastern Province. STES GROUP was awarded 2nd best among other innovative ideas to help more people and goods go more places efficiently.
